Heaven Hill 6 Year Old Bourbon Review

Heaven Hill 6 Year (Green Label) Bourbon Review

Well, now that I’m revealing number 2 on the list that should reveal which is at number 1 as well. Heaven Hill 6 Year, or aka “Green Label”, is a great bourbon that not everyone has the pleasure of enjoying. With distribution limited to Kentucky only this has now claimed the title of “Gift to Kentucky” since it’s price to age and taste ratio is so high.

This was previously held by the bottled in bond version that has since been discontinued, a year of age added, and distributed more widely. Many rumors have swirled about this recently. The 1.75L version was discontinued which through the grape vine was distorted to this being discontinued all together. The downstream effect of that was the bourbon crazies buying cases upon cases of this to hoard or flip (🙄🤬) which caused limited supply, even further supplying fuel to the discontinuing rumors. Alright, enough of that, let’s get to the taste.⠀

Stats: 6 year old; 90 proof; 78% corn 10% rye 12% malted barley; $12

Verdict: I’m so impressed with this bourbon. For the cheap price, it develops some excellent flavors. When blinding this, my first thought was that this was a younger, muted version of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. It has that deep oak, somewhat leathery and tobacco notes, though somewhat watered down, that ECBP has. It’s also got a touch of apple and caramel. It’s a great bourbon and I’m so glad I’m able to grab it whenever I want, it’s delicious 😍
