Jim Beam Double Oak Bourbon Review
Jim Beam Double Oak
There is a Jim Beam on every one of the Top 5 lists where it meets criteria. That’s not necessarily because I’m a crazy Beam fanboy - I like their stuff obviously - but it’s more about their ability to create GREAT, AVAILABLE, and REASONABLY PRICED bourbons.
Stats: NAS (min 4+ years); 86 proof; 77% corn 13% rye, 10% malted barley; $20
Verdict: As mentioned above, there’s a reason Beam products always seem to find their way on my lists. For some reason, it seems that Beam products fly under the radar for most bourbon drinkers - maybe because it’s always there and not hyped by allocation or maybe because they’re still priced as if it’s still the early 2000’s. Either way, they’ve again impressed me with this offering. Even though it’s only 86 proof, it doesn’t feel muted or watered down that much. It’s got a fantastic nose of maple syrup, corn, and oak. Those same flavors translate to the palate where I also pick up some chocolate, a hint of spice, and of course nut. If you’re looking for a cheap bottle to satisfy your double oak craving or just want to dip your toe into this category, this is definitely the bottle for you. No buyers remorse here!
